1st Birthday Party September 10, 2012

There is a lot of pressure in planning your first baby’s 1st birthday party.  With the birth of Pinterest and extremely talented and rich mothers, I was feeling a  little overwhelmed.  There were several points where I screamed, “I’m throwing in the towel! No party for you, Little Mister!”  But that was just one low point. Honest.  All in all, we had a very successful and fun birthday party.  I’ll tell the tale through some pictures.  Enjoy!

Baby Shower August 19, 2012

I, along with some wonderful and talented friends, just threw a baby shower for my best friend.  She is having a baby girl, and it was so fun to celebrate this new life with a girly shower.

The theme was centered on a color palette of purple and pink.  We had a lovely sit down luncheon, cake and iced coffee on vintage crystal snack plates, and a wonderful time chatting and chatting…and chatting:)

Here are a few pics of the decor. Looking for a different way to use your tissue paper pom poms?  Hang them in a vertical grouping.  Using a glittery ribbon and a handmade label will jazz up any glass container.  Flowers can be expensive, so think of other alternatives.  Using a wooden dowel and some fabric or paper, make your own flowers!  Placing the invitation in a picture frame allows your usual decor to transform your party.  The purple cloth napkins added a pop of color to the table setting.  Place cards are an easy and inexpensive way to personalize a dinner.  Questions in each place card were a great way for everyone to learn more about the Mom-to-Be.

I wish I had more pictures of the actual shower, but I guess it’s easier to take pictures of the decorating!  O, yeah, did I mention the power went out right before the shower?!  Well, a bag full of tea lights added a special ambiance 🙂
